About Edgecombe County Criminal History

Edgecombe County criminal records are divided among the Sheriff's Records Division, the Clerk of Superior Court, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, the state corrections system, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Those offices hold different parts of a person's record. This privately operated resource organizes the official portals, telephone numbers, addresses, costs, and request paths so readers can identify the right custodian before making a request.

Why We Built This Site

North Carolina provides several ways to inspect public criminal case information, but no single office holds every product. Edgecombe County Sheriff's Records Division maintains sheriff incident, arrest, and accident reports. The Detention Center keeps local custody information, though the county publishes no online jail roster. The Clerk of Superior Court maintains charges, hearings, judgments, and dispositions through counters in Tarboro and Rocky Mount. NCSBI keeps fingerprint-supported state criminal history and operates the public registry, while the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction publishes sentenced custody and supervision information. The site was created to make those boundaries clear and route each inquiry to its true source.

What You Will Find Here

  • Official contacts: current routes to the Edgecombe County sheriff, court counters, NCSBI, and state corrections systems
  • Record access steps: how to locate and interpret criminal court case records, arrest reports, custody information, and registry entries
  • Check distinctions: the difference between a certified county name search, a courthouse terminal search, and NCSBI Right to Review
  • Record relief: where an eligible Edgecombe case expunction is filed and why the governing North Carolina statute matters

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site, not part of Edgecombe County or the State of North Carolina. It has no authority over a court, sheriff, police department, NCSBI, or NCDAC. Those limits mean the site cannot:

  • Produce an official criminal history or retrieve a record for a reader
  • Submit an expunction petition, public-record request, or court filing for anyone
  • Certify a docket, police report, registry profile, or fingerprint record
  • Offer legal advice about a charge, warrant, conviction, or eligibility for relief
  • Promise that an agency's hours, fees, or procedures have not changed

Only the office that maintains a record, such as the sheriff, the Clerk of Superior Court, or NCSBI, can issue or authenticate its official copy.

Search Partners

Certain pages contain search boxes supplied and operated by outside providers. Each provider controls its service, prices, signup process, and results. A paid subscription reached through one of those tools may generate a referral payment that supports this resource. Edgecombe County Criminal History does not set the provider's charges, compile its results, or turn those results into official North Carolina records.
